Made in Paradise is proud to present its latest release, a collection inspired by Taiwan’s underground betel nut culture, aka “Asia’s deadly secret.” Synonymous to culture are “betel nut beauties,” more traditionally referred to as Binglang Girls, who wait outside neon lit glass enclosures often scantily clad and ready to sell betel nut and cigarettes to passerbys looking for quick pick me up. To pay tribute to the blood, sweat and tears put in to betel nut selling, MIP has designed a range of graphic T-Shirts, long sleeve crewnecks, jerseys and accessories that celebrates these beauties and the culture they’re surrounded in.
From pixelated portraits of real-life Binglang Girls, to street food staples, slogans, logos, nifty graphics and then some, the latest MIP release will get you hooked on betel nut culture. To showcase a true representation of it looks like to be a Binglang Girl, our lookbook editorial for the collection was taken in Taiwan’s real betel nut streets through the narrative of two betel nut beauties hustling from morning to night, highlighting their day-in-the-life.
